ElectricCars.com Press release - 2008
News media is granted to post in public, online and in print

As the auto industry finally commits to producing clean, oil-free transportation--with every major manufacturer planning to produce Electric Vehicles--ElectricCars.com marks its fourteenth year of delivering the latest electric vehicle information to an audience of over 1 million viewers a year.

Launched in 1996 by musician Bruce Gast, the pioneering website quickly became a reliable resource for people to find "real world" solutions to the sky high $1.00 per gallon gas prices of the time. By providing coverage of industry developments and concept vehicles of cars to come ElectricCars.com quickly became the world's number one source for clean transportation.

Bruce launched his website before people jumped on the "green bandwagon". When publicizing green technologies meant "starving". Before polititians preached "the end of oil"... Before celebrities such as Jack Nicholson, Mel Gibson and Ted Danson were driving leased General Motors EV1 electric cars, and before the word green was used by advertisers to make corporations looks "eco-friendly".

Back then, Ford and GM were selling bigger, gas hungry SUV's, and throwing MILLIONS OF DOLLARS at the hydrogen cars... (H-Bombs, what where they thinking?) When California introduced and cancelled it's Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate government agencies and the media still ignored ElectricCars.com, even though almost every aspect of it's long term plan relied upon EV's. But the public response to the website was growing.

From the beginning the directive of the website was to provide information people can use. Thousands of documents were submitted, reviewed, filtered and discarded to create a website that was not "10,000 pages about batteries, blue sky concepts and dream cars that will never be". ElectricCars.com is all about cars that are now or coming soon!

ElectricCars.com has been empowering people with information about electric vehicles even way before the award-winning documentary, "Who Killed the Electric Car?" was released in 2006. But, after all is said and done the goal of the website is to put an electric car in every garage in the world... How we get there it no concern to the owners of ElectricCars.com.

Today, ElectricCars.com offers the Internet's largest searchable database of "real" electric cars, dealers who specialize in electric vehicles and manufacturers and services that have committed to the cause.

ElectricCars.com has been providing real solutions to end the worldwide oil dependence. As each day goes by and we see $100-barrel oil, terrorist threats growing in the Middle East, misbehavior by oil-empowered dictators, and growing concern about climate change. These problems only promise to become more extreme in the coming years.

Oil is now $100 a barrel (Jan 2008) and projections for it to go much higher at a growing rate. Auto manufacturers are finally seeing the end of the oil burning dinosaurs.

$100,000,000,000 OF OUR MONEY!

The U.S government has spent more than one hundred billion dollars on the Iraq war and lost thousands of lives. A conflict to protect the entire world from terrorists who are backed financially by world leaders WHO GET THEIR MONEY FROM OUR GAS SPENDING! We have another solution.

If the US government took that money (our money!) and invested it in electric car technologies it would almost eliminate the trillions of dollars we will all be forced to spend on gas over the next 10 years. Look what a group of small time inverstors did by creating the Tesla electric car, a real world electric car for 1/1,000th the amount of funds spent on the Iraq conflict.

Every President sure promises to support electric car technology in their campaign speaches! Then the first thing they do when they get job is wipe out alternative fuel funding. If we turned "oil bucks" into "technology bucks" there will be an electric car in your garage for under $25,000. If we continue on without curing the oil addiction more conflicts will have to be dealt with over and over.

THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER

More activity has been seen in this industry in the past 12 months than in the past 20 years! Bruce remembers the horrific electric vehicle display at the 2001 L.A. auto show... a few weak skeletons of EV's buried in the basement of the Anaheim convention center... in the farthest corner of the dimly lit "dungeon".

Recently, the EVS 23 auto show (dates available in the ElectricCars.com event listings) was a huge leap forward for the industry. More than 150 companies showed off hundreds of electric cars, vans, trucks, buses... and about 50 of the cars were out back running people around for test drives... all day. Many technical support companies also showed off their advancements in batteries, chargers, solar chargers, controllers, public utility services, etc.

"It's here... and there's no stopping the transition from gas guzzlers to clean electric cars" says Bruce Gast. "we're doing this for the poor working class slobs (like us) who just are sick and tired of paying hundreds of dollars every month to get around town. People who are sacrificing and living on frozen pizza, while oil companies make TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS!, and now people are dying in wars caused by this economic and political mess 100 years in the making".

"We're all doing now, what we should have done in the 1980's... supporting the companies that are making electric cars" said Bruce "Sure, right now an electric car is more expensive than a gas one... you bet, it's not going to be an easy transition... no addiction is ever cured without pain and suffering. But one thing is for sure... the oil companies are running scared. They know people are getting smart and the auto manufacturers see the future now... and it's electric!".

Another development in the past year has been the relationship ElectricCars.com has with auto manufacturers in China. "We're all American, Ford and GM lovers here at ElectricCars.com" said Bruce, "but, China's made the commitment to electric transportation, they built the world's largest electric producing dam in the world and can make a car under $15,000 that gets you around town just fine... I wish these around town cars were coming out of Detroit, but the latest numbers show Ford is still making 9 MILLION heavy duty trucks a year, GM and the other big ones are right up there too! They're laughing at the Chinese cars like they laughed at Honda and Toyota in the 80's... "

"GM had the advantage in 1998 when it released the world first production electric the EV-1. But, they failed to commit to it and were scared off by the costs of converting their loyal buyers to a new medium. So they martyred the EV-1... which made people mad, but people still weren't mad enough to buy the EV-1's. GM's actions were dictated by stock values and they'd sell you an aircraft carrier if that's what you buy. " said Bruce, "Now, as we're all faced with worldwide recessions we have no choice."

" I forseee people yanking out the dirty gas burning engines in their cars and installing clean economic electrics within a few years." said Bruce, "the electric conversion industry is growing by leaps every year now. People love thier cars... and now they will be able to keep them and lose the tail pipes!"

ElectricCars.com gives it's visitors a free guided tour that allows people to preview the many features in it's member's only section. To commemorate its 14th anniversary, ElectricCars.com plans to do nothing but continue on as it has... Sacrificing almost everything to get the word out.

This year ElectricCars.com will continue to develop it's online showroom. This revolutionary web based service allows people anywhere to view information about cars that are for sale now, ask questions and purchase. It's like "e-bay for cars". Your car is literally delivered to your driveway...

In the coming years ElectricCars.com will work with manufacturers worldwide and investors to build dealerships, distribution centers and continue on in the journey... from gas to electric.
