SUBTITLE: Are the auto makers and public truly committed?

BASIC INFO:

This almost seems reduntant. For the past 10 years the LA Auto Show has been the bench mark to watch for measuring the public's attitude and the auto industries half-commitment to electric vehicles.

In 2000 EV's were at the show but placed down int he basement on the far end of the room near the bathrooms and utility entrance.

In 2004 they were in the spotlight on fancy revolving platforms with big banners. For the past few years there's been kind of a "love em if we ever need em" attitude. Then in 2008 gas prices hit $4.50 in the USA and ironically EV's were hardly seen at the show... The auto makers had put electric powered cars on back burners... (Which is one reason gas companies surged and gouged the public)

This year seems to be a turning point. With President Obama's "real commitment" to green technologies electric cars are again the focus of everyone's affection...

Another chapter in this 120 year love affair.

But, will the car companies go all the way this time? Or will they falter as the public, content with cheap $2.65 gas will no doubt become blind to the future AGAIN!

GM seems to be in the forefront showcasing it's long awaited VOLT. We are pleased to see the giant thinking forward and GM seems to be keeping it's promise made to the American public that it would indeed invest hundreds of millions of tax payer bailout dollars into the cure for oil addiction.

WE SURE HOPE THE PUBLIC SEES THIS AND SUPPORTS THE VOLT!!!
