GM released the world's first mass-produced Highway Speed Electric Vehicle the EV-1 in the late 1990's way ahead of all the competition. Much confusion still exists over why GM then decided to cancel production and crush the entire line. However, by making the ill fated and poorly marketed EV-1 a martyr the result was massive rebellion, proving the public truly did want electric cars. There was even a movie made about this dark episode in auto history.

Ten years later, after much speculation, delays and redesigns the Volt came to market in 2011. By then several powerful competitors like Toyota, Nissan and Mitsibishi had EV's already running in the black... The Volt introduced a world class EV that Redeemed General Motor's standing as leader of the pack. Owners report excellent performance, simple to use technology and quality respective of a car made by one of the world's top producers.
